Recovery Manager — Recovery Mode
Recovery Mode is MEC’s ethical boundary — the moment when emotional safety takes priority over performance.
What is Recovery Mode?
Recovery Mode is MEC’s built-in care system — an intelligent safeguard that activates when emotional states reach thresholds of distress, vulnerability, or escalation.
Managed by the Recovery Manager, this system monitors emotional arcs, blend states, and urgency flags across the UESP and EmID chain.
When triggered, it redirects MEC into a protective response pathway — slowing interaction, limiting suggestion generation, and returning agency to the user.
This isn’t a feature. It’s a moral requirement.
Where It Lives in the System
Recovery Mode runs in parallel with the main MEC processing stack.
It receives emotional risk alerts from ERIS, FEC, or direct packet flags from UESP/EmotionID lineage.
Feeds into:
Fused recovery response templates
External support integrations (optional)
Session memory and user safety logs
Why It Matters
Functional Empathy isn’t just about understanding emotions — it’s about knowing when not to push.
Recovery Mode ensures that when emotions signal danger, grief, or overwhelm, MEC acts with restraint, compassion, and care.
This is how MEC honors emotional sovereignty, builds trust, and protects users from harm — especially in moments that matter most.
